The Office of the State Attorney General is an independent institution in accordance with Article 114 of the FGS Constitution, established by Law No. 18 issued on January 29, 1976.

Our Services

Legal advice, representation of the State, and publication of the Official Bulletin.
Government Legal Advice

Providing legal advice on matters requested or referred from the Presidency of the Federal Republic and other government branches.

Government Legal Representation

Protecting the rights and public interest of the government, defending the government and its various branches before courts.

Government Contract Review

The Office prepares and reviews government contracts with individuals, companies, and other institutions before the State is bound.

Treaties and Agreements

The Office reviews domestic and international agreements to which the government is a party before they are signed.

Legislative Drafting Review

Preparation or advice on legislative drafts submitted to Parliament for approval, and answering questions from the Council of Ministers.

Government Dispute Resolution

The Office works to mediate any legal disputes arising between government members, with binding advisory opinions.

Official Bulletin Publication

The Office compiles and publishes the Official Bulletin so government agencies and the public can read laws and official acts.

Legal Document Archive

The Office keeps the national legal archive of legislation, contracts, policies, and other records of the State. Some are public. Others remain confidential.

Legal Research and Analysis

Conducting scientific research on national laws and international regulations, especially those issued by international organizations.

Legal Capacity Training

The Office trains government lawyers and agency staff in the law that governs their public duties.
